About Ricky Blues

On or about August 3rd, 1973, in the region of Sonsonate, El Salvador, Enrique Aparicio Campos was born.

He was orphaned as a result of the harsh violence and civil uprising at that time. As an infant, he was brought to shelter somewhere in the town of Sonsonate, where at the age of two months he was adopted by an Italian-American family from New York.

He was one of ten infants to be successfully relocated to the US in 1973. This miracle was made possible through a Franciscan priest from Boston who was serving the impoverished communities in that region. His name is father Fray Flavian Mucci. For more information visit agape.com.

Enrique was raised in Hawthorne, New York by Anna Maria and Ralph Filannino. By the age of 8 he was introduced to the guitar and began taking lessons. This would be the beginning of a long musical journey for the young man. He would also experience school musicals and dramas, a try at commercial acting as a teenager, played in the local church folk group and ultimately, the garage-band circuit in High School.

While attending college in NYC at the Cooper Union School of Art, Enrique or Rick was enamored by the local music scene and abundant street performers which Greenwich Village had to offer. It was there that he first saw live Blues performed at an open mic venue and was impacted instantly. There, he vowed to himself that he would try to learn about and become skilled enough to perform that style of music and to share his transforming experience with others.

Ricky Blues is the realization of that dream.

Currently, Ricky Blues performs with different ensembles in Westchester County. These evenings fulfill his pure passion and enjoyment of playing live in front of audiences for the young bluesman. These engagements are not limited only to the Blues but any style, original or not.
